This 27″ Rotisserie Spit Rod Kit is ideal for Weber-style 22.5″ kettles and smaller gas grills, as well as WSM’s and 55 gal Ugly Drum Smokers (UDS) — or anything requiring a shorter spit rod.

This high-quality chrome-plated rotisserie spit unit has a premium quality molded handle with threaded brass insert (unlike cheaper ones without this feature, this insert prevents the handle from cracking over time). It has a highly adjustable counter balance weight system. The universal mounting bracket for the motor works with all our rotisserie motors. To make sure you pick the right length rod, look at your grill body. You will see that there is a notch or groove on each side where the spit rod rests. Measure the distance between the two and then add 6″ (this extra is needed for the part that extends outside the grill and into the motor at one end and into the handle on the other).

Example: If the distance between the two grooves is 20″ + 6″ extra = 26″ total. You would order the closest size rod which is a 27″.

To Rotisserie on Kettles, WSMs, Eggs, or Kamados you MUST use a Ring whether you are using The Rib-O-Lator or doing conventional spit-fork rotisserie. It’s necessary because it adds extra height and also provides slots for the rod to rest in and holes to attach the motor.

For Ugly Drum Smokers (UDS) you don’t have to use a ring if you are willing to do some simple modifications — many people just cut their own slots in the sides of the drum for the rod to rest in and drill holes for the motor and then a ring isn’t needed at all.

For Eggs and Kamados you will need a specialized Joetisserie Ring (see pictures). This Ring is necessary because it provides slots for the rod to rest, holes to attach a rotisserie motor AND has sloping sides to allow the lid to close. We don’t sell this type of ring so you would need to purchase it separately (it’s sold on Amazon and comes with a rod and motor included).

For Gas Grills no Ring is needed to rotisserie — only a rod and motor.

IMPORTANT! Weber GAS Grills require a special rod!
Weber rods need special grooving where they rest in the slots of your grill. To be sure you get the correct rod, do this:

  • First, to determine the overall rod length you need to order by measuring the distance between the slots where the spit rod will rest. Then add 8″ extra to allow for the part that goes outside the grill and into the motor and into the handle.
  • Example: If the distance between the two slots is 24 1/2″ + 8″ extra = 32.5″ total means you would need to order the closest larger size which in this case is a 36″ rod.
  • Now, put your Weber model (if you know it) and the measurement between the grooves in the “Comments” section at Checkout and I will make sure you get the right one. Or you can call me at (206) 999-0962.
